I got into a serious baking mood last week. My parents bought me the Momofuku Milk Bar recipe book when they came to visit last month. This book is fan-friken-tastic. Some of the recipes can be a bit involved, but they are so worth it.
I made Momofuku's Apple Pie Layer Cake for Mancini's 50th birthday, but I accidentally used apple cider vinegar instead of just apple cider for the cake soak. What a terrible and expensive error. I cannot for the life of me think why I would have ever thought using vinegar as a cake soak was acceptable or normal. The apples had even come from my parents back yard. So sad!
Anyhoodle....
Last week I made the famous momofuku Compost Cookie. These cookies include: chocolate and butterscotch chips, graham cracker crust, raw unused coffee grounds, oats, pretzels and potato chips. They came out quit nice, but next time I think I will bake them for about one to two minutes less.
They real winner of the day was the Blueberry and Cream Cookie. This cookie is unique and delightful! Being that this is a Momofuku recipe there was a bit of some pre-work to be done. The recipe calls for milk crumb. Milk crumb is a Momofuku creation. It is made with milk powder, cornstarch, butter and white chocolate. And let me tell you, the milk crumb makes this cookie! This is an A+ product!
Overall I made about 80 cookies. I also have another 40 Compost in my fridge at home. I am eager to bake them for less time. I think they will be utterly perfect.
