Rescue Me

I had the flu last weekend. It was great! Not! Any hooter, knowing that I was going to be laid up for a while I rushed to Video One to stock up on TV material. So, there I was about to make a very important decision.. see if I start it I have to finish it. As I browsed the new releases Rescue me caught my eye. I know I had heard people talk about it so what the heck. In general, it is a pretty good show. I thoroughly enjoy the interactions between the firemen. The mess hall mantality in the firehouse is absolutley supurb. Some of the external drama mainly between Dennis Leary's charecter and his "wife" and his widowed sisterlaw/lover is a bit much. The dramatic timeline this half assed triad has shared over the course of 8 years is unrealistic. Perhaps I live a simple and quiet life compared this particular cross section of America. I do love the chemistry between Sean and Maggie. I think their charecters create the a delightful combination. Oh yeah and how can you not love Mike "probie" Silletti played by Michael Lombardi? His charecter is the perfect definition of hot mess. Rescue Me is a great show that is a little rough around the edges.

Interestingly enough the last time I was in New York I shot the photo below which is almost the last shot in the opening credits for the show. In addition, I also shot a picture of Rebecka in front of an authentic Brooklyn fire house.

Really?

Really? I mean, really? These people get to vote? The blonde chick that keeps budding in is my favorite. Where is that accent from? Annoyingsburg, Ohio? Someone should give that girl a big steaming cup of shut the fuck up!  I think I have found a formidable group of people who should be excluded from voting on November 4th. In their place we shall let an equal number of German and French citizens vote. Isn't it terrible that I would feel better if Both Germany and France were allowed to vote in our presidential election? I would fell better! It's the god darned truth!

Abandonment

Frank Schaeffer was a former member of the evangelical church and a former republican. He was raised by "evangelical royalty." He fought hard to get John McCain on the republican ticket in 2000. He has endoresed Barack Obama and has published this plea to John McCain and Sarah Palin. It is quite exciting that eveangelicals and self proclaimned "life time republicans" are turning their back on the McCain/Palin ticket.

Pretty Picture

This map has Obama with 346 electoral votes and McCain with 181. I truly believe that the republicans are tanking. Suck this Sarah!

Uptown Sampler

I'm a bit tardy in reporting about the 21st annual Uptown Sampler. The button they make you wear to identify yourself as an Sampler participant is still sitting on my desk which reminded me that I haven't blogged about it yet. The sampler is an open house for the restaurants that occupy 17th Avenue (restaurant row) and surroundings. This is the second time i have attended the Sampler. Two years ago when I went there were several more restaurants participating. I actually like the downsized sampler as it gives you the opportunity to get to every venue and not be completely gorged by the end. Ok so here is my analysis:

Winner: (tie) Jonsey's Eat Bar & D Bar Dessert
Jonsey's certainty doesn't win because of it's name. I am not a huge fan of the rename. Jonsey's used to be The Dish. Regardless of the name the ambiance has always been good in that space. I'm glad to see that they still offer truffle oil fries on the new menu. They are divine! They also sampled mac and cheese with bacon. They also had pepperoni and mozzarella pizza..

BrakeNutz

As if TruckNutz were not bad enough.. now comes the upgrade to BrakeNutz. I have an idea.. Anyone that owns a pair of Truck or BrakeNutz should be excluded from voting for president next month. We could invite a French or German citizen to vote in their place.

Marilyn

I wish she was running in my district. I would vote for her opposition, obviously.

John + George

Obama should wear this on a t-shirt every day until election day.

Debate night

My employer announced today that politics, religion & sex are off limits for discussion in the break room. Now what do we talk about? Let me get this right... The republicans nominate Sarah Palin, and we are not allowed to talk about this horrific mockery! Cruel!

Check this out: John McCain is your jalopy.

Cousin Collection

This was the first time ever that all of my grandmother's grandchildren were together. A bittersweet moment indeed. Front from left: Alexandria, Trevor, Kelly. Back from left: Me, Michael (my brother), Collette, Matthew, Laura, Keith & Peter.
