GWEN!

Took in Gewn Stefani and Black Eyed Pea. Stefani was awesome. It was a great show (more than a concert.) The show opened by Gwen emerging from the floor on a throne surrounded by the Harajuku Girls! This is how I plan to arrive at our home owners association holiday party this year. It was a quick 1.5 hour show featuring all her new work.

Black Eyed Pea opened the show. I didn’t think they were the greatest stage performers.

Afterwards, we headed to the hi-dive.

ruth, the gal pal of the century!

Ruthie came home tonight and decided she doesn't want to be everyone’s gal pal anymore! We have decided (well she did) that she needs to show more boob! I agree! More boobs for everyone!

troy is returning to denver!

Congrats people of Denver!.
We have officially (or unofficially) reclaimed another soul from California. As you will recall http://lifeofpat.blogspot.com/2005/10/internet-interactions.html Troy left Denver as I was arriving so, he has been gone almost five years. Denver gets to keep its name as the boomerang city. Troy will officially be accepting a position with World Travel here in Denver this week which will seal his fate as a future Denver resident. Yee Haa!

the 80's obsession

The 80's have thrown up on this decade! I have never understood this obsession people have with that damned decade! The fashion, the music, the feel? What is it about that damned decade that people cherish so much? During the 90's I thought it was natural that people reminisce about the prior decade. I assumed in the 80's people longed for the 70's and so forth. This simply has not been the case with the 80's. That decade will just not die peacefully. It keeps haunting us with it's stone washed jeans and vans. I once was a 80's music hater but, a hater I am no longer. I now seem to have fallen into the 80's music trap. I love me some 80's music. I do long for the return of the 90's. Ahhhhh the 90's: grunge, democratic rule and .comers! Oh your return I so long for! Drink your Starbucks from Seattle because America is on-line! I wonder if our ancestors were obsessed with the 1880's? Perhaps they were and perhaps our children’s children’s will be obsessed with the 2080's!

my blog is backlogged! a lot has happened foxies...

  • I took a horrific philosophy test on Wednesday so
  • I had to go out Wednesday night. I convinced Troy to stay another night to go to Hi-Dive so
  • We danced to 80's music then crashed at Michael and Daniels so
  • Troy, Daniel and I went to lunch at Watercourse then
  • I walked Bailey. On my return I accidently sort of put a bit of a hole in Mike and Matts wall so
  • I had to go have a cocktail which turned into a party at Rae's place. After a good night sleep
  • I decided I had to fix the wall. On Friday I applied the first coat of spackle which did'nt take so
  • On Saturday I applied the second coat of spackle and
  • this morning I sanded and painted. It has officially passed the Mancini test.
  • I am officially a good craftsman!

ever been punked by your employer? I have! I got called into the office the other day. I was told it was serious. A union shop steward was present (which is never good.) I was then presented with a notice of termination under the following conditions:

Honestly Robert, well done but, I will get you back! Mark my words!

p.s. congrats to Robert and Nicole who are now engaged!

happy birthday michael!

After much debate and hub-bub (sort-of.) It was decided that a night out at Wazee Supper Club would be appropriate for Mike's birthday celebration. Great choice kids! A very healthy crowd attended. It was a lovely time indeed. We attempted to go dancing but apparently Rock Island is 18+? Yeah, that’s stupid! We ended up back at Tower on the Park for cake.

On Friday I baked a 3-5 layer cake for Mike. I say 3-5 layers because at various times during the day it was going to be anywhere from 3 to a 5 layer cake. I lost 2 layers due to stupid baking techniques. It ended up to be a homemade 2 layer carrot cake with 1 layer of spice cake finished with cream cheese frosting. I don't bake or shouldn’t be allowed to. It literally took me like 8 hours to bake this fucking cake but, it was well worth it for the birthday boy. I actually think I will start baking cakes on peoples birthdays. Stay tuned for this one!

internet interactions

I first chatted with Troy Walker in 1998 on America On-Line. I was 19 and he was 18. We have chatted and talked on the phone for the past 7 years. Last night I met him face-to-face for the first time. It was awkwardly normal. We acted towards each other as if we have been friends for well 7 years. Troy moved to San Francisco from Denver as I was moving from Minnesota to Denver. Yesterday was the first time he had been back since he left in 2001.

We each had a glass of red at Paris on the Platte Wine Bar. Dinner was excellent at 240 Union. We drove around for a while checking out Troy's old neighborhoods. It was a very nice evening.

Now I guess I'll have to shove off to San Francisco to visit Troy. Damn!

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ONLY LOOK AT PICTURES...
yes, I will get my digital camera fixed soon and I will have pictures on my blog. I promise!

the final bell!

My mother retired last Friday. After 34 years of teaching grade school she heard the final bell. She attended grade school at the same school she taught at, Easter Heights Elementary, in St. Paul, Mn. As most schools have done Eastern Heights had to expand a few years back. The new design of the school meant that one of the classrooms would become the teachers lounge. The classroom that became the new teachers lounge was the classroom my mother had attended kindergarten. It was in the teachers longue that she had her retirement party. Nancy Cunnien's first and last day at Eastern Heights Elementary were in the same room just 47 years apart. Congratulations Mom!

what's new?

I hate that question but, I find myself asking it all the time. Does anyone answer this question with honesty? I know I don't! Do people really care about what is new in my life and, do I care what's new in theirs? It's such a heinous pleasantry. I vote it be stricken from the books immediately! NO, wait! even better! I want everyone for the next week to just be honest and really tell me what’s new. Let's just say you were to ask me "What’s new?" I would respond like this, "Well, I have two new pairs of shoes and, I cooked bone-in chicken breasts for the first time." Now, does that sound interesting to you? Cause that’s what I got people. I am going to start answering this question honestly. You all watch, I dare you! Ask me "What's new? I may tell you!

p.s. Kaiya and I just got tickets for both nights (Dec. 9 & 10) to see Dave Matthews Band at Madison Square Garden! Now that’s what’s new!

where is the quote of the day section?

yesterday
"You might be into that sorta thing but, I just don't want to see hairy balls."
-United Airlines gate agent

today
"And I made all this fucking honey box"
-Ruth C.

For those of you interested, the pro-life campaign "Genocide" will be at the Auaria Campus through the end of the week. It really is quite unpleasant. Isn’t there a war somewhere we could all protest? Geez!

Ruth had her friend Barrett and I over for soup and bread tonight. Barrett spent 2 years in the Peace Corps. She just returned from Burkina Faso (It's an African country.)

really must you poeple bitch so much about my drinking blog!

Before I go further I must blog about Lipgloss last night. I took my harem out. Michael F. showed as well. That was a nice surprise. OK I wasn't incredibly surprised to see him. What else is one to do on Friday night?

I love my beer girl. I wish I knew her name. She's very nice. She gives me beer. I like that in a beer girl.

I must say the bathrooms at La Rumba/Lipgloss are most excellent. They actually have an attendent. The attended hands you a towel to wipe your hands. They also have a candy dish with assorted Jolly Ranchers and Packs of Cool Menthol Cigarettes if you happen to be nic-fitting while you pee or take a dump. I LOVE TO PEE AT LIPGLOSS! Last night I excused myself a couple times to get another Jolly Rancher or to rob another menthol.

It appears that Lipgloss is starting to loose its edgy quality. I really do enjoy it tho. Geez, what’s next already!!!

Burger King was a cluster as usual. They forgot my damned Enormous Omelet Sandwich. We had to turn back! It all worked out in the end I got free hash brown rounds and 2 cigarettes from some chicks in line. We were the Fat Girls Club on wheels for Christ sake and I was their leader!!

OK, I'm really gonna focus on not bloging about drinking so much. This Blog might get dreadfully boring all of a sudden.
